Constellations turns 5!
Written by katehazeldine on 18th April 2019
This Easter weekend, our bright & dazzling neighbour Constellations make their 5th trip around the sun!
We’re dusting off our moon shoes & preparing to transmit two whole days of live music featuring our own Melodic astronauts. Running on Friday 19th April from 6pm – 2am and Saturday 20th from 3pm – 2am, an eclectic mix of sound-waves will be spun from both the café & the now-open garden. For those of you caught up at the space station, fear not! We’ll be streaming everything live from our website from midday through until 8pm, so you can tune in and enjoy while indulging in that lovely freeze-dried food.
If that’s not enough, there’s also a plant swap & summertime garden food available all day to keep your rocket fuel ignited!
See the line-up lowdown below.
Friday 19th April
18:00 – 20:00 || Ross Robertson
This smiling face is becoming a very-well recognised one around Liverpool! Ross Robertson is a killer DJ with a talent for picking out under-the-radar house and disco jams. Having nailed impressive support slots for the likes of Crazy P, Baltra and Giles Peterson, this young talent also produces his own electronic music and shows no signs of slowing down.
20:00 – 22:00 || Rotation DJs
Rotation is the collective creation of three avid music collectors from the North West. Specializing in the fields of balearic, disco funk & modern edits, the crew share a passion and belief that records should be judged based on their musical substance rather than age or popularity. Long established through their prior shows on Electronic Melody Sessions and Wirral Radio, Rotation deliver a monthly show on Melodic with a focus on Sunday grooves.
22:00 – 23:00 || Mouvement DJs
Such a huge part of the Constellations family, the Mouvement party has brought a huge array of disco legends to the venue over the past few years. Lovebirds, Luke Solomon, Folamour and Bellaire have all played at the club and what better way to celebrate their time on Greenland Street than a closing set in the garden they have helped make so legendary!
20:00 – 22:00 || Refreshments DJs
This fun-loving DJ duo based in Liverpool refresh old tunes that make you dance! With a monthly show on Melodic Distraction, they travel across the decades with some nugs of knowledge, dodgy chat and history to match. Delve into their fine selection of labels and sounds that have had an impact on modern day dance music.
22:00 – 00:00 || Aitman & Zaremba
This double-trouble duo need no introduction. MDR co-founders and Worldwide FM hosts Aitman & Zaremba step up to the plate with an ever-eclectic selection! With Aitman venturing into the humanisation of electronic music and Zaremba sinking back into chilled ambient feels, this fusion of different tastes always promises an exciting set.
00:00 – 01:00 || Luke Bartlett
Melodic Distraction resident DJ Luke Bartlett builds a dynamic of fun and sporadic selections, with quality the one invariable factor. Boogie on into your Friday!
01:00 – 02:00 || DJ Focus
DJ Focus’ musical policy spans all four corners of UK bass. Shelling out dubstep, dancehall-grime, garage, drum & bass and jungle, he packs plenty of fresh releases into his sets!
Saturday 20th April
15:00 – 16:00 || Richie Vegas & Keith Marley
These veterans are no strangers to the DJ circuit! All-rounder Richie Vegas cut his DJing teeth in his late teens, which led to running eclectic hip-hop nights in Liverpool as part of The Jiggery Pokery Collective. Since then, his distinctive style – made up of soul, funk, jazz, afro-beat and reggae – has found him supporting visiting dignitaries such as Lee Scratch Perry and Don Letts.

Representing Jacaranda Records, Ali Bongo’s monthly Melodic Distraction show provides a run-down of the best new releases, in-store top-sellers and underground club hits in store. A Tim Peaks Diner DJ and producer, expect a selection that dips into cosmic disco and dub delights.
