GoPlay, L100 & Melodic Distraction Launch Live Series, ‘The Drop’
Written by Josh Aitman on 15th February 2020
After 3 years of window shoppin’ we are excited to announce The Drop, a new series brought to you by Go Play Studios in collaboration with DJ 2Kind and his Melodic Distraction show L100, celebrating urban music in Liverpool. Once a month we flip the camera for an intimate live session from right inside our tiny studio, showcasing some of the amazing local talent that our city has to offer.
Following 3 years of Melodic Distraction and a year of DJ 2Kind’s flagship show on Melodic Distraction Radio, GoPlay Studio step onto the field to give us a new angle on Liverpool music, showcasing intimate live sessions from fantastic local emerging talent.
Go Play is a Liverpool based recording studio that works with some of the city’s biggest rap artists from the likes of Tremz & Aystar, to international acts such as KRS-One & Fetty Wap.
Their latest project, The Drop, has been lovingly curated to uplift and provide a platform for Liverpool’s growing independent urban scene. A space for artists to grow and nurture their talent.
Fronted up by local veteran DJ, Mervyn Lynch aka DJ 2Kind, the taste maker has been pushing the urban scene of Liverpool for decades. Originally residing on Liverpool’s very own KCC Live radio station with a weekly show, Mervyn stepped into the Melodic Distraction family in 2019 to take up a new monthly residency on the station.
After a year of featuring 100% Liverpool music on the airwaves, Mervyn adds a new dimension to the much-loved show with GoPlay’s new live sessions. Starting this February, each month a local artist will have the opportunity to record a live session with GoPlay before heading onto Melodic Distraction Radio with DJ2Kind for an interview live on air.
You’ll be able to catch the live premiere of each session, right from our Facebook page, website and via GoPlay’s YouTube channel on the third Sunday of each and every month before L100 airs the following Tuesday.
For the first edition of The Drop, Levi’s Music Project graduate SSJ jumps into the studio for a live performance.
