Just In: Baltic Weekender First Announcement

Written by on 21st March 2017

The Baltic Weekender, a brand new cultural event taking place in Liverpool, has just released it’s first wave of artists that will be joining them on the first weekend of June.

The initial announcement arrives with the coming of Spring and it’s certainly set the mood for daytime drinking and dancing in the sunshine! Between 2nd and 4th June, Abandon Silence and 24 Kitchen Street will join forces in the hotly contested Baltic Triangle as they host a special weekend of events, celebrating the vibrancy and diversity of music culture that the area is now famous for.

Alongside a wide variety of local promoters including Madnice Marauders, PAUSE, Upstairs With and Wonder Pot as well as ourselves, Melodic Distraction, the Baltic Weekender has just dropped their first announcement…

Throughout a number of our favourite warehouse spaces, Studio Barnhus’ AXEL BOMAN will perform after the release of his collaboration album, The Night Land. Alongside the Swedish DJ and producer, Rush Hour’s GERD JANSON and Workshop’s MOVE D will also provide some exquisite selections over the weekend.

On a grimier tip, Liverpool is joined by North London’s GHETTS who has been working alongside RUDEKID recently, with a single called ‘Banger after Banger’ to be released soon. Alongside them, ELIJAH & SKILLIAM will host one of their raucous sets in The Baltic Triangle whilst P MONEY and the rising star STEFFLON-DON will bring their lyrical wordplay to the party, with local MC AYSTAR holding it down with them. After her collaboration album with DJ Q and Royal T, the Butters affiliate FLAVA D will provide a mixture of garage, bassline and grime whilst SWING TING bring the carnival vibes for what is set to be a dancehall and soca infused shakedown.

Since playing at Abandon Silence’s Echoes party in November, DENIS SULTA returns to Liverpool alongside fellow Glaswegian BIG MIZ. Local don, MELE, who’s new track ‘The Latin Song’ has just premiered on MixMag joins in the fun with Radio 1 and NTS affiliate MOXIE. In keeping with the local tip, previous Melodic Distraction guest JAYDA G joins CHAOS IN THE CBD as they both return to the city after mad good parties at Constellations and Buyers Club respectively. The heralded jazz instrumentalist, MOSES BOYD will bring a fantastic live element to the weekend having just returned from SXSW, the American festival that has faced some difficulties regarding denied ESTA’s for artists.

For all those seeking a techno fix, Liverpool plays host to the Berghain veteran DVS1, whilst Lobster Theremin bring a full crew to the city. Head Lobster ASQUITH fits the bill alongside Liverpool’s ASOK and ROUTE 8 who both have a number of releases on the experiment label. ASOK just released Inner Circle a couple of weeks back and all of their releases are available in Lobster Theremin’s newly founded record store in London Fields.

This is all held together by a backbone of local support, with DEEP SEA FREQUENCY, ANDREW HILL, MACCA and NO FAKIN’ joined by KAT Records’ STE HODGE, SUEDE BROWN and the local Party Promoters.

The full line up will be assembled in early May. Tickets available below:
