Lockdown Live Lounge: Jackson Mico Milas
Written by katehazeldine on 12th June 2020
Lockdown Live Lounge returns with two more concerts from one home to another! We may still be (2 metres) apart, but now more than ever we need to connect with our online communities to bring us together. We hope to do just that this week, with some more fresh talent from around the globe.
Lockdown Live Lounge invites our favourite artists, local and afar, to live-stream a mini gig from their homes. Every Monday and Thursday at 2pm give your ears and eyes a little hug from the freshest talent across the UK. An intimate experience direct from living room to living room, we invite you to sink into our ‘Lockdown Live Lounge’, but from the comfort of your own home. You don’t even have to get dressed to go out!
We kick the week off with Australian-born, London-based songwriter, producer and composer Jackson Mico Milas. Milas rose to prominence with the indie-pop outfit the HIGH HIGHS, which saw him tour internationally with the likes of Vampire Weekend and Empire Of The Sun. He’s also composer of numerous TV and film scores, including Tim Minchin’s acclaimed Sky Atlantic drama ‘Upright’.
August will see his first solo venture: a debut 4-track EP entitled ‘For Every Coast’. Having explored a myriad of genres throughout his career, the accomplished collection of songs blend acoustic, alt-folk and jazz. They document Milas’ journey as a musician and composer, focusing thematically on displacement and loneliness. Having settled in different cities around the world, he felt it should reflect a sense of isolation that he’d felt in each city, focusing on the fact that this forced him to collaborate remotely with friends and musicians across the globe; something that is becoming increasingly more prevalent. The first single, also called ‘For Every Coast‘, is out now.
Join us on our Facebook page for Jackson on Monday 15th June, 2pm.
