Lockdown Live Lounge: Niki Kand & Lo Five
Written by katehazeldine on 8th June 2020
The Lockdown Live Lounge returns and we’re still 2 metres apart. This week we bring you two more concerts, from one home to another. We may be apart but more than ever we need to connect with our online communities to bring us together and we hope to do just that this week. We’ve got two local artists bringing you the heat on Monday and Thursday.
Lockdown Live Lounge invites our favourite artists, local and afar, to live-stream a mini gig from their homes. Every Monday and Thursday at 2pm give your ears and eyes a little hug from the freshest talent across the UK. An intimate experience direct from living room to living room, we invite you to sink into our ‘Lockdown Live Lounge’, but from the comfort of your own home. You don’t even have to get dressed to go out!
This week we’re excited to welcome Niki Kand to open the week with her debut on the station. Niki Kand grew up in Tehran in a big and noisy family. There would be at least 10 people around the table for dinner every night.
Now living in Liverpool, she comes to us, cross-legged on her bed, directly into her Macbook microphone, over whatever wild combination of beats she comes up with. Niki’s received so much support from her local music scene and from institutions including BBC Introducing Merseyside, BBC6 and the music magazine that prints our favourite pink papers, Bido Lito, since releasing music publicly.
Currently, she is working on her debut EP that will be out in 2020 and we can’t wait to have her join in the Lockdown Live Lounge.
Following a relaxing Monday, we slide into Thursday with an electronic hardware set from Melodic Distraction host and head honcho of the Emotion Wave crew, Lo-Five.
A community of electronic music lovers within Merseyside, Emotion Wave is a tight-knit family and open to all as a support network of musicians working together, sharing ideas and supporting one another to develop their creative outputs. Neil Grant, known to many as ‘our leader’, is a fantastic Wirral-based producer in his own right.
Under the Lo-Five moniker, Neil works in the ethereal realms of electronic music, creating beautifully textured music to relax, dance and sleep to. Back in November 2019, Neil released his second full length studio album ‘Geography of The Abyss’ on Castles in Space. Out of the blue, Neil has also released a brand new album this week entitled ‘The Art of Living’.
We’re excited to listen to the music Neil has been working on through the Lockdown period, and to come together once again to share and enjoy one another’s musical talents.
Join us on our Facebook page for Niki Kand on Monday 8th June, 2pm and for Lo Five on Thursday 11th June, 2pm.
