Lockdown Live Lounge: Yoh & Katerinha
Written by katehazeldine on 11th September 2020
Lockdown Live Lounge returns with two more concerts from one home to another! We may still be (2 metres) apart, but now more than ever we need to connect with our online communities to bring us together. We hope to do just that this week, with some more fresh talent from around the globe.
Lockdown Live Lounge invites our favourite artists, local and afar, to live-stream a mini gig from their homes. Every Monday and Thursday at 2pm give your ears and eyes a little hug from the freshest talent across the UK. An intimate experience direct from living room to living room, we invite you to sink into our ‘Lockdown Live Lounge’, but from the comfort of your own home. You don’t even have to get dressed to go out!
This week we head to New York for Brooklyn-born musician, Yoh! Yoh breathes new life into hip-hop through graceful polymerisation of the styles that influence him. Though hip-hop at it’s core, he explores and implements styles of jazz, ambience and the avant-garde.
With no limitations on word play, Yoh delves into his works to display a colourful contemporary style. As the vocalist of emerging jazz/hip-hop 7-piece ‘Poetic Thrust‘, Yoh shows that he can tackle a vast array of sounds and is comfortable with the widest of sonic landscapes.
Then we’ll be hopping over to Berlin for Macedonian soul-pop singer, songwriter and DJ, Katerinha!
Katerinha began creating original music from a young age, which led to starting a career as a live music booker and artist manager in Berlin. With a constant motivation to intensively explore her sound and style as a writer and performer, she began performing as a bass player, DJ, guitarist and singer.
2020 sees her release her first solo material, with debut single ‘Trippin‘ and second single ‘Not Your Friend‘. We’re excited for her forthcoming debut album, of which she is completing the final touches!
Join us on our Facebook page for Yoh on Monday 14th September, 4pm and for Katerinha on Thursday 17th September, 2pm.
