MDR Selects – Lennie Dies
Written by katehazeldine on 23rd July 2019
MDR Selects, a series where we invite our favourite artists, record stores, labels and more to curate a playlist of songs that hold specific meaning to them.
This edition sees local alternative grunge trio Lennie Dies take to the floor! Renown for their energetic live shows guaranteed to make you sweat, the three-piece are made up of good pals Mike, Nathan and Oli. Having torn a hole in the alternative music scene a year or two ago, their driving bass-lines, slamming yet incredibly intricate drumming and poetic vocal melodies earned them a slot at Sound City and support for the likes of Superfood, Soeur and Caro within a matter of months. Their debut single ‘Blame It On The Kids‘ is out in the world for your listening pleasure, and with more tunes in the pipeline, we can’t wait to hear what these boys cook up next.
“As individuals we have quite varied and polarising musical interests. We’ve each selected tracks that are important to us, by artists that have given us musical inspiration, influenced the way we write and play, have specific emotional meaning to us or that we’re simply obsessing over!
We’ve also made a few selections together as a band. These are the artists and songs that have directly impacted our musical style or tunes that we just fucking love. Lastly, we’ve thrown in some local artists that we’re really into at the moment for good measure. Enjoy!
