Melodic Distraction with Dego & Jayda G
Written by Josh Aitman on 24th September 2016
After a long summer of planning and with two huge sell out shows last season we’ve decided to celebrate with definately our most legit line-up to date.
We’ve never been more excited to return to the garden and warehouse of Constellations. Bringing with us a true OG of the broken-beat, jazz and soul game: DEGO, along with Vancouver’s own party starter Jayda G, we expect everything to be left on the dancefloor at this one. With first release tickets already sold out and standard release already flying, we expect this show to our biggest yet…
As always we’ll be transforming the venue into a dense and leafy forest in addition to throwing up the huge tent out back to keep you all warm while you get down to our residents outside!
LINE UP INFO…
– DEGO (2000 Black / Eglo) –
Crossing the boundaries of soul, jazz, boogie, breakbeat and hip hop: Dego has imparted an immeasurable amount influence on the electronic music scene ever since the early 90s. A true master of his craft, Dego has received universal acclaim for consistently pushing the boundaries of electronic music with the effortlessness of a true pioneer. Releasing music on his own highly accliamed 2000 Black imprint as well as Alexander Nut’s Eglo Records, Dego has consistently redefined musical trend with a shed load of style thrown in just for good measure.
Check out some funky action from Dego right here!
– Jayda G (Freakout Cult) –
Bringing that NYC house sound via Toronto and Berlin, Jayda G is not only an incredible producer of music, but also a boss selector when given a set of turntables. With recent releases on her own label: Freakout Cult, named after her legendary Vancouver-based club night and a massive Boiler Room studio sessions just released, Jayda no doubt can command a dance floor.
– Constellations –
Constellations & The Observatory is an award winning, independently minded event space in the heart of the Baltic Triangle. The space, a regenerated warehouse and recycling yard. The result, an inspiring place to escape awhile under the sun and stars. All thoughtfully designed and curated for like minded people who share an interest in our great city’s rich arts and music scene.
The space brings people together, priding itself on its diversity. From late night parties to contemporary music events, from art exhibitions & markets to conferences & seminars. By day, this is a place to enjoy fresh, fuss-free food, catch up with friends, escape the office or simply take time to soak up the sun and, as dusk falls, the space is illuminated with events, stories, music and possibilities.
The venue comprises of two unique spaces. The first, a 4500 square foot garden and bar, occupying a disused industrial recycling yard. The garden bar recently won a national design award and made the shortlist for the prestigious RIBA award. The handmade wooden oak canopy is an immediate draw with it’s geometric design which takes inspiration from the site, where a former warehouse burned down in the 1980’s; the remaining gables provide a striking backdrop to the design and draws your eye upwards towards the sky. If you have traveled to Budapest, Amsterdam or south New Zealand you will notice the parallelisms in design, the DIY ethic and laidback atmosphere which have subtly influenced this urban retreat.
The second space is an 8000 square foot warehouse called The Observatory, transformed into one of Liverpool’s most versatile grassroots venues. Hosting the likes of Melodic Distraction, Abandon Silence, Fiesta Bombarda and Modular open air events, this is no doubt one of the most exiting spaces to come out of the Baltic area of Liverpool in the last few years…
