Spotify playlist are many and rife. Finding the right playlist for you can be somewhat daunting in the ocean of content available on the worldwide web. Whether it be by genre or by situation, in most cases, playlists can find themselves limited in their horizons, often restricting themselves to certain genres. Some of the best DJs in the world, as we have seen in selectors such as Hunee, Antal, Motor City Drum Ensemble and Floating Points build their sets upon a foundation of eclecticism. Whether it be house music forged together with soul, funk, disco, jazz, techno or even rock – contemporary musical culture is one that demands a cross-pollination of genres like never before. A consequence of the internet age, you don’t need a plane ticket to Detroit, Havana or Rio to be a digger any longer.

Closer to home, friends of Melodic Distraction: Peter Wright, Sam Grindey and Will Hiorns capture their diverse musical tastes in a playlist characterised by dance-ridden music from all genres. With tracks stretching from DJ Spen to David Bowie to Cerrone, we’ve been digging this playlist for quite some time now and thought it be only fair they share some of their top tracks with our readers. Click any of the boxes below to hear their top 30 tracks.
