Based in South Liverpool, Wavertree Worldwide is a socially conscious programme of community events run by a collective of friends that wanted to bring together a love of music, fashion and art.
Powered by a DIY DJ booth and a disco ball, Wavertree Worldwide are creating a new home for local events with an expansive outlook thanks to the reopening of Smithdown Social Club, a humble paradise where international artists meet Merseyside’s finest in an unpretentious space for dancing and guaranteed joy.
Tonight they host the first leg of ‘Make Some Space’ with journalist, author and Worldwide FM radio DJ Emma Warren. The evening will deliver conversation, music and a workshop that “invites us to remember the venues and community centres that generated culture, and asks us to protect the few that remain.” Following on from this, make sure you join the crew this Saturday at their first community dance event, with Total Refreshment Centre’s central character, Lex Blondin, at Smithdown Social Club.
